Summary/Abstract: The article problematizes the contents posited in children’s toys on the online catalogue for 2014 of the Hypoland chain of stores. The results of the social study presented in the article serve to analyse the concrete identity characteristics, activities and role models constructed through children’s toys as subjects. In presenting data on the variety of overlapping contents of the toys, the study outlines and compares the worlds envisaged for each of the two genders, and shows both the correlations common to both and the differentiated ideological conceptions by gender. For the purposes of this study, toys are considered not only as attributes that are particularly important for the socialization process, but also as a valuable object for the social sciences because of the code framework posited in them, relative to the logic of the social. Thus the article raises the more general issue of the deconstruction of childhood – an important and necessary task for sociology, the achievement of which would lead to a better understanding of social reality. This is seen as being a „new“ task, for childhood is a topic neglected by sociology, especially in this national context, where no such studies have been undertaken to date.
