Summary/Abstract: Could there be any connection between the Japanese legend of the monk Hoici, the blind minstrel, kidnapped by the dead warriors of a dead emperor and forced to sing for their master and the famous impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh who cut down his ear? The author of this article comes up with the idea of a possible link between van Gogh and the Japanese painting.
