Summary/Abstract: This brief essay contains some basic remarks on the Polish transition period. The author tries to understand the fashion of political thinking after the collapse of communism and his conclusion is that the so called human nature takes part in evaluating of what has been happened. In his opinion, an intensity of individual experiences during the communism period used to be an important factor in evaluating of our history and it causes a lot of illusions connected with contemporary mass democracy. The author designates it using the phrase of “democratic ketman”. In general, the article suggests that the notion of human nature can be also an important instrument of the interpretation which cannot be disregarded in political investigations.
