THE CZECH MYTH AND ITS IMAGE AS A SYMBOL OF HOPE

Summary/Abstract: The report presents one of possible perceptions of a symbol, based on the idea that author attempts to use his work in order to show reader which aspects of history he understood and how he observes certain social and political tendencies, and possibly where he sees the past and presence as linked. The myth is here understood partly as filling of certain wider social and political lines, partly as a choice and emphasizing of particular historical facts, characters and phenomena. By scaling the inner and outer pressures and influencing the shape of plots, author creates historical lines which could, in a way, be identified as search for the meaning of history.
