Summary/Abstract: In this article, we shall try to argue that the concept of force in quantum mechanics is of secondary importance and does not enlarge our knowledge of the term force in classical mechanics. For this purpose, we shall make a brief review of the notion of force in classical physics before considering a possible meaning of force in non-relativistic quantum mechanics. In our argumentation, we shall assume Schrödinger’s formulation of the theory and Dirac’s canonical quantization process. We shall not discuss the meaning of force in quantum field theory and in general relativity.
