Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the way the religious and historic background of a community / a group of people is reflected in toponymy, i.e. the way in which it defines the toponymy of a certain geographical area. It shall focus on the geographical area ranging from Beclean to Dej (Bistrita-Nasaud county) and on its inhabitants’ ethnic, religious and historic background.
