Summary/Abstract: Two years after its emerging, the financial crisis, which has surprised governments, employers and employees by its depth and duration, has affected to some extent all economic sectors. This gives a cause for different hypothesis, assumptions and strategies about the measures to overcome the crisis. The small and medium business plays a significant role in all economies. In view of the numbers and employment in them, the companies in this sector are a key generator of jobs and income, heralds of innovation and growth, and in the present situation - particularly important for the economic recovery of the countries. The governments realize that in order to survive and grow, the SMEs need specific policies and programs – the varied range of measures, currently acting in the developed countries to support them is a proof.
