Summary/Abstract: Gusztáv Thirring (1861–1941) was a significant statistician at the turn of the 19th–20th century, who had been presiding the statistical office of the capital for 20 years. He dealt with social statistics, demography and historical statistics as well. This paper describes beside his ramifying professional activity the population census of 1906, which was organized by him.
