Summary/Abstract: The Christology of the Eastern Fathers, especially that of St. Cyril of Alexandria, was taken up and deepened by the Scythian monks on the dogmatic teaching of the Fourth Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon. In Christology, these monks became the model and content of Emperor Justinian’s compound hypostasis of Christ. Justinian shows his power and stature of a great theologian, assuming and deepening Chalcedonian Eastern tradition. Emperor Justinian definitely contributed to the theology and its important role in the life of the Church.
