Summary/Abstract: This paper investigates projects of European Union legislation concerning private international law and civil procedure in the field of property matters of marriages and registered partnerships. It also describes fundamental changes in legal status in Poland in case of entry into force of the proposed regulations. Part of the publication is devoted to the issue of limits of the EU powers to unify private international law. The author concludes that explanations to the opinioned projects given by the European Commission are internally inconsistent.
