Summary/Abstract: The authors are making a case for a stronger political commitment from Europe towards the accession en bloc of the remaining countries to the EU. Further, the EU should provide all Balkans aspirants with a road map for their accession, specifying dates and frameworks. This would at least give an encouraging signal. At the same time, the focus should be maintained on common fundamental issues, such as regional co-operation, as a means that, in effect, could produce positive effects for promoting reconciliation and combating organised crime and corruption. However, we have to discuss these issues in the context of reform efforts in the region.
