Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a review of the recent palaeanthropological and archaeological data making a background for a problem of human usage of vegetable resources in the Upper Palaeolithic. The problem was formulated in the Russian prehistoric archaeology in 1970st and received a new impulse for development in the European archaeology in the last five or seven years, in connection with research successes in palaebotany and a palaedietology. According to the palaedietology data, the Upper Palaeolithic humans had a wide range of food adaptations and used environmental resources as much as possible. If this conclusion is illustrated by archaeological materials, and a list of specific operations is provided, we get a picture of the real life in a settlement and information for palaeconomic reconstructions.
