Education in the political activities of Edhem Mulabdić (1923-1929)

Summary/Abstract: During the existence of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes education in Bosnia and Herzegovina has faced many problems: lack of professional teachers, school buildings, teaching aids, children’s absence from school, attempted unification of curriculum, textbooks, nationalist activities in schools, etc. Edhem Mulabdić, representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, he sought to change this situation. However, he was often alone in the struggle for better education, misunderstood by the other delegates who mostly operated from a position of political parties to which they belonged, national and religious positions and focused on narrow interests of local communities from which they came.
