Summary/Abstract: Polish studies at the University of Veliko Turnovo celebrates a double anniversary in 2013/2014 – the Department of Slavic studies was established 20 years ago and courses in Polish, taught by native speakers, were introduced 40 years ago. The article provides an A–to–Z account of the cultural contextualisation of Polish studies at UVT; assembles a gallery of portraits of lecturers focusing on their academic and research work; traces the itinerary of Slavic studies and its current prospects; focuses on student activities; studies the forms of cooperation with universities and institutions in the field of Polish studies, highlighting the most fruitful ones.
