Summary/Abstract: The article is a synthesis of Marian thought by blessed John Paul II. In the Encyclical Redemptoris Mater Pope expresses his deep concern about the proper Marian spirituality, as well as devotion. In his mariological texts, the Holy Father rather indicates the Marian dimension of Christian spirituality. In a speech at the Papal Theological Department "Marianum" (19 December 1988) the Pope was clearly recognizing Mariology as a hermeneutical key to the theory and practice of spiritual life.
