Summary/Abstract: The author describes and interprets angelology present in poetical works and essays by Zbigniew Herbert. He points out the duality of the creation of an angel in analyzed works. He confronts the images of angels deeply rooted in art with Herbert's poetical visions of angels that are distant, cruel, dangerous, that bring unfavorable news and are separated from the worries of this world. Angels that are close to human beings do appear in Herbert's essays.
