Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the problem of the presentation of the Evil in selected prose works by Jean Genet. Its main goal is to analyze the way the author attributes noble values to particular elements of the depicted world, commonly perceived as immoral. They thereby become an ideological underpinning of Genet’s subversive mythology. The article seeks also to examine the conceptual vision that Genet wants to achieve by drawing inspiration from the world that rejected him due to his criminal activity. The study of those elements shows that the universe in Genet’s novels is, on one hand, considerably inspired by the reality with which it vies on a conceptual level (rivalry), on the other hand, is used to construct a narrative space where the Evil becomes an indicator of loftiness and uniqueness.
