Summary/Abstract: Following the dissolution of Matica slovenská, František Víťazoslav Sasinek sought new opportunities for professional advancement, choosing Prague as the centre for his continued scholarly endeavours. His decision was primarily motivated by the appeal of Prague’s intellectual milieu and its institutional infrastructure, which offered ideal conditions for historical research. Sasinek relocated to the Czech metropolis in 1882, where he spent a decade of intensive activity. During this period, he authored dozens of historical texts for various Czech and Moravian periodicals and published a series of popular-scientific brochures. He also endeavoured to establish his own historical journal to serve as a publishing platform not only for himself but also for colleagues sharing a similar methodological and interpretative orientation. The paper reconstructs Sasinek’s institutional ties and his network of contacts with professional and amateur historians in the Czech Lands. It analyses his circle of collaborators, as well as the specific periodicals and publishing houses through which he engaged in public discourse. Finally, the paper reflects on the reception of his work within correspondence and public debates.
