Summary/Abstract: The Slavonic folk medicine lexicon presents a large group of maladies denominated by the word *vülkú and its derivatives. The priority is given to the skin sicknesses (eczema, tetter, diaper rashes, furuncles, abscesses, sores etc.), which are followed by the eye diseases (such as leukoma, stye, mooneye etc.), rheumatism, epilepsy and some others. Although the lexical items of this kind are heavily exampled in ethnographical literature (especially in the quack chanting texts), they are rarely included in the dictionaries. In the folk medicine both the origin of the “wolf diseases” and the magical treatment of them are linked with a wolf.
