Summary/Abstract: Following the model of the terms ‘mythemes’ and ‘lexemes’, we propose identifying ‘ecographemes’ – textual elements of the oikos, understood as a place inhabited and traversed by humans and non-humans – which give structure to Rachilde’s and Renée Vivien’s work. The presence of wild animals, their often collusive relationship with the feminine principle, as well as vegetation, minerals, and the nocturnal and humid nature of the landscapes draw a sensitive map of the imaginary world of nature in these authors’ works. The aim is to study the ecopoetic interconnections between animality, landscapes, ‘the cruelty of water and night’ (La Dame à la louve), femininity, myths and sensibilities, both in the works of these two women and those of the fin-de-siècle.
