Summary/Abstract: In the world of contemporary European theatre, one can find numerous institutions that have decisively influenced the course of its development in terms of genre, language, and spatial design. One of them is undoubtedly the French Théâtre du Soleil, founded in 1964 by the renowned director Ariane Mnouchkine. From its very inception, this theatre has distinguished itself from every other cultural institution in the country – and indeed in the European context – through its commitment to creating productions dedicated to historical and contemporary themes, exploring major authors and themes, beginning with the French Revolution in the production 1789 and extending to the war in Ukraine today through the main programme of performances, The Dragons Are Here. The language under examination is linked to direct political theatre through the mediums of mask theatre and improvisation.
