Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we analyze the emergence, development and details related to the functioning of the Sharia Administration and the qadi Administration in Podgorica and Montenegro, as well as their staff, during the reign of Prince/King Nikola I Petrović. Using available primary sources and literature, we attempt to reconstruct the process of the emergence and development of the institution of the Sharia Administration in this period, as well as the individuals of the institution who were the main actors in the work and development of these institutions. Going from the general to the specific matters, we based our work on the analysis of the qadi office in Podgorica, as part of the Sharia Administration in Montenegro. We divided our research into thematic units and chronologically reconstructed the processes and events that determined the direction of development of the aforementioned institutions in that period.
