Summary/Abstract: Study examines the identification, iconography, and significance of monks and hermits depicted in the 1345–1346 frescoes of the Lesnovo Monastery. It analyzes the representations of prominent Christian monastic figures, including Saint Anthony the Great, Saint Euthymius, Saint Sava of Jerusalem, Saint Ephrem the Syrian, Saint John Climacus, and the Serbian saints Simeon Nemanja and Saint Sava. The study concludes that the carefully arranged portraits reflect the monastery’s strong monastic tradition, providing spiritual role models for its brotherhood while emphasizing the shared cult of Serbian saints and their role as intercessors for the salvation of believers.
