Summary/Abstract: Proper performance of a teacher’s duties requires the ability to maintain subject-oriented relationships with the other participants in the educational process. It is not easy for teachers to achieve their professional goals whereas students’ parents wish to have more and more influence on teachers’ work, the principal raises new expectations and students challenge the mandatory norms and rules and a competitive attitude occurs amongst the teaching staff, instead of support and understanding. It is particularly difficult for the teachers who have not an ability to defend their own rights and boundaries when confronted with the needs of others. The research objective was to establish the predictors of assertive defence of rights by teachers, in their contacts with students, their parents, other teachers and headmaster. The results of the research conducted in a group of 301 teachers revealed a diverse share of the investigated subjective resources: self-assessment, self-efficacy, coping with stress, motivation of achievements and professional attitudes in explaining the dependent variable. High level of self-esteem proved to be a strong predictor in case of contacts with students, in relation to the students' parents this was the high sense of self-efficacy, and in contact with other teachers motivation for achievements and active strategies for coping with stress. In the relationship with the headmaster, the defence of their rights is weakened by an overly engaged professional attitude and strengthened by the search for emotional support. Wyniki badań, prowadzonych w grupie 301 nauczycieli, ujawniły zróżnicowany udział badanych zasobów podmiotowych: samooceny, samoskuteczności, radzenia sobie ze stresem, motywacji osiągnięć i postaw zawodowych w wyjaśnianiu zmiennej zależnej. W relacji z dyrektorem obronę swoich praw osłabia zbyt zaangażowana postawa zawodowa a wzmacnia poszukiwanie wsparcia emocjonalnego.
