Summary/Abstract: Through the analysis of two essays – “Psychoanalysis” by Katarina Bogdanović (1924) and “Individual Psychology of Alfred Adler and its Significance for Feminism” by Julka Chlapec Đorđević (1935) – the paper follows the reception of both psychoanalysis and Alfred Adler’s individual psychology among women intellectuals in the Kingdom of SCS/Yugoslavia. Тhe focus is on the territory of today’s Serbia and, more specifically, Belgrade. The selected articles are discussed in their main features, placed in broader contexts, and finally compared with one another, with an emphasis on their (pioneering) significance. Relying on previous reconstructions and research into the legacies of Katarina Bogdanović and Julka Chlapec Đorđević, the paper falls within the domains of intellectual history and gender studies. The aim is to contribute to existing studies and to stimulate future studies of the reception of the main currents of (twentiethcentury) psychology and psychoanalysis in the context of Serbia and (interwar) Yugoslavia.
