Summary/Abstract: Due to the floods that hit south-western Poland in autumn 2024, the Council of Ministers issued a decree on 16 September 2024 introducing a state of natural disaster. This marked the second time a state of emergency was declared in Poland since the current Constitution came into force, and the first time a state of natural disaster was introduced. The purpose of this article is to analyze the process of introduction, duration, and termination of the state of natural disaster in Poland in 2024 in the light of the current legislation, as well as to assess the legality of the actions taken under this extraordinary regime.
