Summary/Abstract: As Nigeria continue to grapple with development challenges due to shortfalls of professional in the various sectors, all efforts aimed at curtailing the increasing spread of migration from Nigeria have not yielded the desired result as youths move in their droves to other nations in Africa, Europe, Asia, America and other part of the world which are presumed to have better opportunities. This continuous movement has led to brain drain for Nigeria, brain waste for professional migrants and brain gain for the recipient states. The study seeks to answer key questions about brain drain and brain waste in Nigeria. It adopted secondary method of data collection as prime plank for its investigation and finds that professional migration is antithetical to the overall development of Nigeria and constitutes a major setback for the country. It concluded that continuous migration is inimical to development in Nigeria and recommended that it is imperative that in this age of globalization, government put adequate measures in place that will blur the attractions which pull youths from their places of origin.
