The Competence Profile of the Infant-Toddler Educator

Summary/Abstract: The infant-toddler educator is the professional to be found in ante-preschool education (0-3 years) within institutional frameworks (nurseries, kindergartens, clubs, day care centers, recreational and play centers) or families (if and as required, as nannies who had been explicitly trained for this role). Our study emphasizes the profile of competencies that such infant-toddler educators ought to possess while reporting it to the current Romanian experience, as seen from the point of view of existing regulatory frameworks, structured forms of achievement, the pedagogic and psychological contents used for such training. In Romania, a genuine movement has been configuring lately with a view to search for the most suitable formula for future specialists in early education.
