Summary/Abstract: This study investigates the effect of monthly ambient temperature and relative humidity conditions in Uşak, Türkiye, on the water and acid dew points of heavy-fuel-oil flue gas using an Engineering Equation Solver (EES)-based thermodynamic model. Calculations were performed for 1 kg of fuel at 101.325 kPa and an excess-air ratio of λ=1.20, assuming that 1% of fuel sulfur is converted to SO₃. Monthly temperature and relative humidity data were incorporated through EES psychrometric relations to determine water vapor entering with combustion air. The model yielded a water dew point of 45.09-46.00 °C and an acid dew point of 134.67-135.19 °C. Seasonal atmospheric conditions caused only limited variation in both dew points, whereas the acid dew point remained approximately 89 °C above the water dew point. The results show that acid condensation constitutes the principal low-temperature operating constraint in heat-recovery systems firing sulfur-containing heavy fuel oil.
