HATAY-ARSUZ İLÇESİ’NİN EKOTURİZM POTANSİYELİ VE STRATEJİK GELİŞİM ÖNERİLERİ
ECOTOURISM POTENTIAL AND STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ARSUZ DISTRICT OF HATAY

Summary/Abstract: Arsuz, one of the important tourism destinations of Hatay, has significant tourism potential due to its natural, historical, and cultural assets. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the potential of the existing tourism resources of Arsuz district and to examine how these resources can be evaluated in terms of ecotourism within the framework of an alternative tourism-oriented approach. The study aims to develop strategies that reduce the pressure of mass tourism on natural and cultural resources by offering alternative tourism options and to extend tourism activities over a longer period of time while reaching broader and more inclusive target groups. In the research, content analysis and SWOT analysis techniques were applied to the data obtained through field observations and assessments as primary data, as well as document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. The findings indicate that Arsuz has significant natural and cultural tourism resources; however, the district has deficiencies in infrastructure, institutional coordination, promotion, and marketing. Consequently, in order to utilize these resources appropriately and enhance the competitiveness of the destination in terms of tourism, strategic solutions and recommendations were developed based on the current situation assessment, as well as the SO (Strengths – Opportunities) and WT (Weaknesses – Threats ) matrices.
