Summary/Abstract: Contemporary social and geographic mobility encompasses not only the possibilityof free travel but also the freedom to choose one’s life partner. The descendantsof mixed‑nationalityunions often face identity‑relatedchallenges concerningtheir relationship to the nationalities of both parents. This case study, basedon a biographical interview with an individual from a mixed Czech‑Germanfamily, focuses on a situation where neither of the parental nationality is dominantfor the individual. The study examines, in the selected individual, the factorsshaping identity development, analyzes persistent national stereotypes, and assessesthe influence of binationality and bilingualism in the context of the Czech‑Germanintercultural dialogue.
