Summary/Abstract: By re-examining the skeleton discovered at Târgșor in grave 104bis and dating it using modern analysis methods (such as radiocarbon chronology) it was revealed that who was formerly assigned as a male warrior is, in fact, a middle-aged woman who lived and died at the middle of the 7th century A.D.. This interdisciplinary research suggests that she was likely part of the Avar community and held a high social status. Notably, she was buried alongside an old mare – a detail that highlights the cultural significance of age, gender, and burial practices in her society.
