Summary/Abstract: The Challe Plan is considered one of the most threatening military strategies that the Algerian revolution faced, as it is considered a decisive attempt led by General Maurice Challe to suppress the revolution. The plan included strengthening French military capabilities, and applying innovative military methods with the aim of weakening and dismantling the support network on which the National Liberation Army (A.L.N.) relied, and isolating it from popular and external support, especially after the independence of Tunisia and Morocco in 1956. The independence of the two neighboring countries opened the way for the Liberation Army to establish rear bases on the eastern and western borders, which raised a new concern for the French military command, notably about how to prevent the border areas from turning into bases that supply the Wilays with weapons and trained soldiers. On this basis, the Challe Plan focused on isolating the revolution from its rear bases by ensuring the effectiveness of barbed and electrified wire, and carrying out military operations on the borderlands to destroy the military bases situated on the eastern and southern borders.
