Summary/Abstract: This study aims to present one of the possibilities for the joint realization of free teaching and freedom of learning, a professional practice of the author within the local tertiary educational framework. The closing chord of the undergraduate international Pedagogy program (specializing in intercultural educational assistance) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Institute of Educational Sciences of the University of Pécs, is a course on Remembrance education implemented in a block format in midApril of each year. Within this framework, in line with the UNESCO learning city concept, international students of the program, who have been living in Pécs, Hungary for three years by that particular time are involved in activities that result in sensitization, knowledge consolidation and expansion, regarding the subject matter of Jewish cultural values and the tragedy of the Holocaust. The study presents the theme of the course in question, the reasons for its implementation method, the adequate experiences of reframing the locality and the historical-social space, the IWalk method, and the lessons learned from the relevant reflections of the participating students. All this is realized within the framework of action research-interpretation of responsive curriculum development, by introducing the concept of disruptive formal learning, closely linked to the conscious and reflective, adequate international tertiary education practice of mobilizing democratic competences. April 16th is the Hungarian Holocaust Remembrance Day, which in 2024 marked the 80th anniversary of the start of the deportations, while January 27th, 2025, marks the beginning of the 80th anniversary of international Holocaust remembrance, so the more emphatically focused period of memory and remembrance encompasses a longer time interval - however, its educational significance cannot be tied to years.
