Summary/Abstract: European contemporary society confronts the reality of migration, a phenomenon repeated in history, which it tries to understand and control. Although, there are historical generally valid traits of the phenomenon, each era, each situation presents also differentiating elements from the anterior ones, a specific evolution and a dose of unpredictability. Some observations regarding the mechanism of Romanians migrating from the Balkans, towards the Austro-Hungarian Empire can be interesting, which happened in the 18th century and their efforts to define their identity, a historical event very little known about and analyzed not only from a historical point of view, but also socially and psychologically. In a broader sense, keeping the national identity on the part of the historical Romanian communities which live in an allogeneous environment from around the Romanian borders represents an important component of the cultural strategy, through which historical truth can be valued. The Romanian variant, entered in the collective mentality, forms a puzzle from which are missing important historical elements, in relation to the existential space of Romanians from Transylvania and from the old days Hungary, meaning from the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. In this space in which have lived always Romanians, essential historical truths are dissipated, sometimes with pattern value, which would have the capacity to, for instance, ameliorate the typology of the ethnic profile of the Romanian. The Macedo-Romanian community from Hungary (with Andrei Saguna, Emanoil Gojdy, the Mocioni family) has cemented the conscience of the Romanian identity and acted accordingly. Most of them got involved in the fight for national emancipation, in supporting Romanian-ism, by establishing schools and cultural institutions, through printing books and manuals, in order to help Romanian students from the Empire, through the development of the Orthodox Church.
