Summary/Abstract: The article outlines the European dimension of juvenile criminal justice. The process of Europeanising national rules as a model for the unification of substantive and procedural criminal provisions, by establishing minimum rules on criminalisation with identical penalty ranges and by using uniform procedural rules, is necessary and is based on the principle of mutual recognition of judicial decisions. Gradually, in view of the complex issues raised by the huge changes at international level under the sign of globalisation, from the perspective of the scale of juvenile offending and the internationalisation of offences, realistic solutions are required, consisting in the promotion of generally applicable principles and the adoption of coherent and uniform regulations on the conduct of states and their citizens worldwide. The paper is a contribution to the discussion on the European dimension of juvenile justice in relation to the development of criminal procedures through the lens of the rights standards applicable to minors accused of committing offences. At the same time, it seeks to highlight the difficulties related to the implementation of regulations in this area and the practical challenges, and to demonstrate the importance of international judicial cooperation mechanisms in criminal matters in this area. Last but not least, the paper approaches the need to harmonise regulations at global level in order to ensure the coherence and effectiveness of the protection of the rights of children subject to criminal proceedings
