Summary/Abstract: The profession of court probation officer is a service associated with a special kind of public trust. The article presents ways of creating the ethos and professional identity of court probation officers through organisational activities aimed at cultivating the tradition of probation service, creating ethical standards, and developing work methodology adapted to current socio-cultural challenges. Building professional identity is key to integrating the professional group and consolidating its position within the justice system and wider social structures, with the legislator's role in setting the profession's legal framework being an important factor.
