Psychiatric Injury under Article 157 § 1 of the Criminal Code

Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the possibility of treating Article 157 § 1 of the Criminal Code as a legal basis for attributing to a perpetrator the causing of psychiatric injury. The text presents the views of criminal law doctrine on this issue, and also examines the possibility of establishing a causal link between an act and this type of health impairment on the basis of forensic psychology literature. The text also provides an example from case law - a case in which a court adjudicated on this type of injury - as well as examples of other potential cases in which such an impairment may occur.
