Coincidence and crosswords: the explosion of meaning in The Bald Soprano

Summary/Abstract: Why do the characters of the Bald Soprano suffer from such a strange memory-loss? Where does the astonishment of the Martins, about some things supposed of extremely common knowledge, of things «understood», come from? What is the mechanism that governs these characters that lack psychology? And most importantly, what connection is there between this type of characters and the preposterous, but paradoxically, not the less significant way in which language functions in the Bald Soprano? These are the questions this study endeavors to answer.
