Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the recently introduced to the Polish legal system life imprisonment without the possibility of parole and its compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights. For the purpose of the consideration, the author reconstructs the relevant legal standard from the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights. In the author’s opinion, the Polish regulations on the life imprisonment without parole violate the Convention. Moreover, the Polish pardon procedure is not sufficient to ensure the requirement of “reducibility” as stated by the Convention.
