Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to determine the level of specialization in the manufacturing industry in the provinces of Turkey and to reveal the relationship between the level of specialization and selected socio-economic indicators. In this study, the level of specialization in the manufacturing industry of the provinces was determined through the Location Coefficient (LQ) calculated based on employment data obtained from the Social Security Institution (SGK), and the spatial distribution of the specialization level was shown with LISA (Local Moran's I) analysis. The relationship between the specialization level of the provinces and GDP per capita, total exports, total imports, net electricity consumption per capita, annual population growth rate, population density, net migration rate, number of automobiles per thousand people, number of hospital beds per ten thousand people, and average household size was examined on a provincial basis. Correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between the specialization level of the provinces and the selected variables. According to the results, there is a positive and significant relationship between the level of specialization in the manufacturing industry and net per capita electricity consumption, net migration rate, total imports, total exports, annual population growth rate, population density, GDP per capita, and the number of automobiles per thousand people. However, no significant relationship was found between the number of hospital beds per ten thousand people and average household size and the level of specialization of the provinces. In conclusion, the level of specialization of provinces in the manufacturing industry in Turkey is related to energy use, foreign trade, population movements, and economic activities, and is effective in the formation of regional differences
