Summary/Abstract: The study follows a change in the reading of the ionescian dramatic masterpiece through the representation of this theatre in the Romanian postrevolution period: for being a generator of significance, the absurd must be approached and described in a realistic way. Starting from one of Ionesco’s first statements: «Humanity must be looked out not in the objects that are around us, but beyond them, in the essential realities, from wich the objects diconnect us», we follow, through the tension between the object and the actor, the generation of some new poetics of this theatre, where realism is a basic element. The dialogue with the authors of the analyzed performances has helped us: stage designer Adriana Grand (The Chairs) and the director Gelu Colceag (What a wonderful mix-up).
