Summary/Abstract: Oral narration refers to the transmission of emotions and thoughts through speech using linguistic skills. Iraqi Turkmens possess a very rich and ancient oral literature. Kirkuk, located on the Baghdad-Erbil highway in northern Iraq, is one of Iraq's most important cities after Baghdad, Basra, Erbil, and Mosul. Kirkuk and its surroundings, being a place that preserves the richness of material in the oral tradition of Turkic (Turkmen) folk literature, demonstrate the continuity of its folklore by carrying its cultural heritage from the past to the present and its desire to pass it on to future generations. In this research, riddles were collected from seven key individuals selected through face-to-face interviews. Thirty-seven riddles were collected, classified under five headings: household items, celestial bodies, body parts, animals, death, and beliefs. Explanations were provided for some differences observed in pronunciation and meaning. Finally, opinions on the collected riddles were presented.
