Summary/Abstract: The article deals with affective criticism present in Polish literary studies and the traditions to which this project refers. It shows the discrepancies between the characteristics of this current and the ways in which the issue of affect is operationalized in philosophical traditions, which are embedded into a new context and identified with the discourse on trauma. The article illustrates the difference between the two models of affect in action – through interpretations of texts by Janusz Sławiński and Stefan Szymutka. The comparison makes it possible to grasp the different critical approaches to affect – as a (re)construction of traces of the unrepresentable and as creating maps of social bodies.
