Summary/Abstract: Quality schemes in the wine sector represent an important tool for competition in order to increase the production of wine products and to establish economic value both domestically and internationally. These quality schemes, briefly referred to as systems such as controlled designations of origin and geographical indications (GI), contribute to the authenticity of product identification, to the promotion of traditions in the sector, and to increasing consumer confidence in the quality of wines. In the current context of market globalization and increased and intensified competition, quality schemes are becoming an important factor, essential for product differentiation and for the sustainable development of the wine sector. The purpose of this study is to deepen the economic impact of quality schemes on the wine sector, with an emphasis on the added value of products, the competitiveness of producers and economic development in the region. The paper also analyses and highlights how quality certifications lead to increased demand, expanded access to new markets and strengthened the image of wine products. Through a research based on the analysis of economic and financial data and specialized literature, the study examines the economic benefits generated by these quality schemes after their implementation and the socio-demographic advantages. The research results show that quality schemes generate significant economic advantages for producers, by increasing market access, the market share of certified producers, by developing the wine sector and last but not least, the promotion of national agri-food products on the European and international market.
