Summary/Abstract: The text proposes a reading of Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński’s marginalized and early poetic work, especially his debut sonnets. A reading of the sonnets Christ, Ave Caesar, Dream and Fire reveals their deep rooting in the spiritual transformations of the late nineteenth century, visible in the motives of suffering, destruction or eroticism. Boy’s early lyrics turn out to be an important testimony to his artistic explorations and indicate the need to include his debut poems in research on the composer’s Young Poland origins.
