Summary/Abstract: Gauls Immortalized in Stone: Perspectives on Anthropomorphic Sculpture of the Iron Age. This article aims to highlight the challenges that still arise when interpreting Gallic statuary, despite the significant progress made in recent decades in understanding this art form and its archaeological contexts. The lack of explicit written sources on Gallic deities has long led researchers to draw parallels with the Roman pantheon — an approach that is now outdated. Gallic statues rarely display clearly divine attributes, and recent archaeological discoveries suggest instead that they should be recognised as representations of prominent figures in Gallic society: aristocrats, magistrates or druids. Although rare, this statuary forms a coherent and dynamic corpus, the analysis of which reveals stylistic and symbolic developments throughout the Iron Age.
