Summary/Abstract: This study analyses the policies of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), an integration centered organization with fifteen full member states in the Caribbean region, aimed at establishing food security at the regional level. Food security is a key issue that determines the quality of life and affects the security of societies, and it is on the agenda of international relations. Formal international institutional mechanisms, private actors, and civil society organizations participate in global governance processes related to ensuring food security. In line with the intensification of intergovernmental regional cooperation processes, regional organizations, which have been increasing in number, also produce policies to establish food security within their geographical areas. Such organizations may address the food security issue at the regional level with the aim of attaining various objectives, which include achieving development, reducing poverty, and increasing food supply. This study argues that the concept of food security, as defined by international institutional cooperation platforms, has been incorporated into the CARICOM integration process from a multidimensional and multisectoral perspective and that the policies adopted to establish food security throughout the CARICOM region aim to promote the development of CARICOM member states, aligning with and complementing the founding purpose of this organization.
