Summary/Abstract: This work will focus on the development of the town of Tetelpa, in the state of Morelos. The appearance of the Haciendas of San Nicolás Obispo and Santiago Zacatepec in the 17th century, and the social tensions over water, land, and agricultural work that persisted for 300 years in the region. Likewise, we will describe the relationships between the Hacienda and the town’s hunters, as reflected in the community’s festive dance of the tecuanes. The dance ends with the sacrifice of the tecuan or jaguar, to achieve a more equitable life and mutual respect between the power of the Hacienda and the indigenous people.
