Summary/Abstract: Folk songs are significant oral and melodic cultural elements that encompass the unique characteristics of a specific region. They serve as profound reflections of the local history, traditions, and customs of their respective areas, mirroring both the human emotions and the socioeconomic life of Turkish society. This study aims to examine the narratives of folk song stories from Tokat, identify the underlying reasons for their creation, evaluate their structural and thematic features, and investigate their applicability within the framework of music education. In the research process, a qualitative design employing the document analysis technique was utilized. Data were obtained through extensive literature reviews and the examination of various sources, primarily the TRT Folk Song Repertoire. Within this scope, 113 folk songs and 22 stories from Tokat were identified, from which the five most prominent and widely known narratives were selected for detailed analysis. Data were evaluated using content analysis, whereby oral cultural elements, nomenclature, natural motifs, and lifestyles within the stories were correlated with traditional cultural values. The findings reveal that the folk songs and stories of Tokat accurately reflect the region's history, social structure, and cultural attributes. In conclusion, it was determined that these oral cultural products transcend being mere musical genres, serving as significant cultural documents that transmit the emotional and social fabric of the people of Tokat. Furthermore, due to their rich cultural narratives and melodic structures, Tokat folk songs represent a valuable resource for both fostering cultural awareness and developing musical skills in music education. In this context, local research and oral history studies conducted through narrative folk songs can contribute to students' musical research skills within their own geographical context. Encouraging students to compile new stories and melodies from their families or local sources can foster a music education environment that is both aligned with curricula and supportive of cultural sustainability.
